MICHLO ATELIER Glass Ornaments

Our Process

How It’s Made

Every Michlo ornament is handmade. A sculptor, a glassblower, silverers and painters each bring their own craft, so every piece passes through many skilled hands before it reaches you. That time and care is why our ornaments cost more than factory-made ones.

  1. Step 1 · Design, Mold & Approval

You send us your idea, and we shape a clay model from it. From that clay, we create a cast mold. We wait for your approval and make any changes or corrections, so the result is exactly as you imagined. The mold belongs to you and is used only for your ornaments.

  2. Step 2 · Glassblowing

A glass tube is placed inside the cast mold, then heated and blown until the glass fills every rose and tier of the design.

  3. Step 3 · Silver Injection

Liquid silver is poured inside each ornament and swirled to coat the glass, giving it a mirror shine that glows through every color added later.

  4. Step 4 · Hand Painting

Our artist applies the colors by brush, following your specifications. We send you two different color themes, two distinct ideas, to review and make any changes you’d like.

  5. Step 5 · Glitter

The painter sprinkles fine glitter and sparkle onto chosen details to finish the ornament. Once set, it lasts for years of holidays.

  6. Step 6 · Packed & Sent to You

Each ornament is carefully and safely packed to minimize damage when it’s sent.
